Vaas and Mishra set to join Delhi Capitals as bowling coaches for IPL 2027
Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas and former India legspinner Amit Mishra are set to join Delhi Capitals as bowling coaches ahead of the 2027 IPL season. Both former players are currently in Delhi working with the franchise's academy players.
New Coaching Setup:
Sourav Ganguly steps in as head coach, with Yuvraj Singh serving as assistant coach. Vaas and Mishra will share bowling coaching duties for their first IPL coaching roles.
Chaminda Vaas:
Brings extensive international experience, having coached the Sri Lanka men's team across multiple stints, as well as roles with New Zealand and Ireland.
Head coach for Kandy Royals in LPL 2026 and NYS Lagos in the 2024 Zim Afro T10.
Amit Mishra:
Ranks tenth on the IPL's all-time wicket-takers list with 174 wickets in 162 matches, holding the record for the most IPL hat-tricks (3). Previously played for Delhi, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants before retiring in September 2025.
Operational Shift:
The overhaul follows a rotation agreement between co-owners GMR Group and JSW Sports, where each takes operational control in alternating two-year cycles. GMR previously managed operations for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
