Pakistan fined for slow over-rate in tri-series final

Pakistan have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the final of the ODI tri-series, played against Sri Lanka, in Lahore, on Saturday (October 31). After the allotted time was taken into consideration, it was discovered that the hosts were one over short. For each over their team fails to bowl within the allotted time, players are subject to a fine of 5% of their match fee, according to the ICC Code of Conduct. Shaheen Afridi, the Pakistan captain, pled guilty to the slow over-rate offence and accepted the proposed sanction, ruling out the need for a formal hearing. Pakistan won the match and the tri-series by scoring 326 runs, the joint-highest total in an ODI tournament final.
