BCCI pushes IPL retention deadline to November 17

The BCCI has extended the deadline for IPL franchises to submit their player retention lists by two days. The board stated that franchises now have until November 17 to finalize which players they wish to retain or release in a communiqué sent to the teams on Monday (November 2). The initial cutoff date was November 15. The date and venue of the IPL mini-auction remain unchanged, with the event scheduled to be held in Goa on December 16. It is believed that the India-New Zealand One-Day International scheduled for November 15 prompted the extension. On that date, Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui will host the series' fifth and final game. The BCCI has consequently given franchises an additional two days to complete their retention process. On the day of the auction, India will host Sri Lanka in an One-Day International at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the second match of the series. However, the BCCI has given no indication of a change to the auction schedule, with the latest communique reiterating December 16 as the date for the event. The timetable for the Goa auction has also been laid out in the BCCI message. Player registration has already opened, with the process commencing on Monday (November 2). The player registration window will close on November 23 after the retention and release process has been completed by franchises until Tuesday, November 17. Teams will then have until December 1 to submit their final list of player choices for the auction. On December 3, the player sets and final auction register will be made available.
