Kwena Maphaka has been ruled out of South Africa's three-match One-Day International series against Australia after suffering a right hamstring strain in training. To determine the extent of the injury, the fast bowler will undergo additional testing. In the meantime, seamer Lizaad Williams has been selected to take his place. He will join the team on Wednesday, September 23, one day before the first one-day international in Durban. The absence of Maphaka adds to the growing number of injured South African fast bowlers. Lungi Ngidi, along with Kagiso Rabada and Ottneil Baartman, who were also sidelined by hamstring issues, was ruled out of the series earlier because he had a hamstring injury while playing for the Titans. Nandre Burger has been managing a back issue, and Lutho Sipamla is another fast bowler affected by injury. On September 24 (in Durban), September 27 (in Johannesburg), and September 30 (in Potchefstroom), the three one-day internationals will be played. After that, a series of three tests will be given.
