Alexa Stonehouse, a former left-arm seamer for England's Under-19s, has agreed to move to Warwickshire from Surrey. After Surrey agreed to an early release from her contract, Stonehouse will make the move permanent to Edgbaston, where she spent the 2026 season on loan. She will sign a two-year contract with the Bears. The 21-year-old was called up to the ODI squad earlier this summer as injury cover for Issy Wong as part of the performance programme pathway. Warwickshire Women head coach Ali Maiden stated, "Alexa has been a breath of fresh air since joining on loan at the beginning of this season, so to make the move a permanent one is great news for us." "Although she is only 21 years old, she already has a lot of experience, and we've seen firsthand throughout 2026 how significant that can be for us in the years to come." "The signing of Alexa, who has been a regular feature in England A teams and squads, is another example of us working to recruit the next generation of England cricketers." Stonehouse signed with Surrey prior to the 2025 season after demonstrating his potential at South East Stars. She has since played for England A and was a member of the England squad that competed in the 2023 U19 World Cup. Stonehouse stated, "After spending the 2026 season here on loan, I'm delighted to be joining Warwickshire permanently."
