After a successful loan period, Middlesex has signed wicketkeeper Harry Duke from Yorkshire on a two-year contract. After spending time at Middlesex earlier in the season, Duke, 25, made the move to the club in September to take over for injured goalkeeper Joe Cracknell. He made 55 in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup final on Sunday as Middlesex won their first white-ball trophy since 2008, scoring his first first-class hundred in the County Championship loss to Durham. Duke excelled at Yorkshire and made his teenage debut in 2021. He was only 19 when he scored 125 in his second Royal London Cup match, making him the youngest Yorkshire player since Sachin Tendulkar to score a List A hundred. However, his returns in first-class cricket were lower, and because Jonny Bairstow was more available, he was unable to secure a spot in the County Championship team. Instead, he spent some time on loan at Essex in 2024 before proving his worth with Middlesex.
