Brydon Carse has been dropped from England’s squad for the second Test against Pakistan due to an ongoing investigation relating to an incident at a nightclub in Derby. The pacer was seen in handcuffs outside a Derby nightclub on Saturday, which prompted the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to investigate. Sonny Baker has taken Carse's place in England's squad. Baker has only played in one Test thus far, in the New Zealand series in June. The Cricket Regulator will be conducting an investigation, although the ECB did not provide any additional information regarding the incident. Earlier in the summer, then captain Ben Stokes and pacer Gus Atkinson were also dropped while an investigation into their nightclub incident was ongoing. According to the ECB's statement, "Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men's Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained." Carse, 31, was a player in Durham's County Championship victory over Derbyshire by 338 runs last week. He was released to play county cricket alongside Shoaib Bashir, Sam Cook, Matthew Fisher, and Ollie Pope, who were not in the playing XI for the first Test. England won the first Test by an innings and 103 runs. The second Test begins at Lord’s on Thursday (August 27).
