UP Warriorz make key appointment with Neetu David as chief scout
Former India Women selection committee chair Neetu David has been appointed as the chief scout for UP Warriorz (UPW) in the Women's Premier League (WPL), succeeding former Bengal allrounder Rajib Dutta.
New Scouting Role: David will work alongside UP Warriorz head coach Abhishek Nayar to identify emerging young talent and build a robust long-term player pipeline for the franchise.
Selection Committee Record: David headed the women's selection committee from September 2020 until September 2025. Her panel picked the national squad that won the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup.
Distinction & Career: A legendary left-arm spinner, David took 182 wickets across 10 Tests and 97 ODIs between 1995 and 2008. She holds the record for the best bowling figures in a women's Test innings (8/53 against England) and was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2024.
Franchise Context: After making the playoffs in the WPL's inaugural 2023 season, UP Warriorz finished at the bottom of the table in both 2025 and 2026. David has already begun her role, attending UPW's recent off-season camp in Bengaluru. UPW are coached by Abhishek Nayar and made the playoffs in the inaugural season in 2023. But they finished at the bottom of the table in WPL 2025 and 2026. They recently held an off-season camp in Bengaluru, and David was part of it.
