Tom Curran has been signed by the Brisbane Heat for the upcoming Big Bash League season. Curran will be the Heat's first overseas signing for the 2026-27 season. He has previously played for the Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers. Curran continues to play a significant role in T20 leagues around the world despite not playing for England in over five years due to his ability to bowl and contribute with the bat lower down the order. He played for MI London in the Hundred and is currently participating in the inaugural ETPL. Curran has played close to 300 T20 matches and has a career strike rate of 145.89. He has also taken 297 wickets. The 31-year-old has played 52 games in the BBL so far, so he will bring a lot of experience to the Heat team. He had his best BBL season last year with the Stars, posting figures of 4/10. “He’s fiercely competitive and from my experience coaching him at Delhi in the IPL, he lifts the other players around him through his energy, drive and focus.” James Hopes, the Brisbane Heat coach, stated. “I’ve been watching him play last week for the Edinburgh team in the brand-new Euro League. He has taken 10 wickets in four games so far, and I am sure he will enjoy bowling for us at the Gabba,” said the coach. In terms of batting, he is very similar to Mchael Neser in that he can influence a game by controlling the innings, either by attacking himself or by getting the most out of his partner. Tom’s BBL experience with the Sixers and Stars is a bonus as he knows the Australian venues and conditions very well which will undoubtedly benefit our playing group.”
