Starc Surpasses Marco Jansen to reclaim No. 1 spot in Test Rankings
Mitchell Starc, an Australian fast bowler, has overtaken South Africa's Marco Jansen as the top Test bowler in the ICC rankings. Following the third Test between South Africa and Australia in Cape Town, which Starc won with nine wickets and Jansen with three, the most recent ranking update was made.
In the Test match that Australia lost by 176 runs to lose the series 2-1, Starc was 6 for 72 and 3 for 65. Jansen was named the Player of the Series for his 198 runs with the bat and 13 wickets in the three Tests, and as a result, he became the top-ranked Test bowler only last week for the first time.
Simon Harmer, Jansen's teammate, won the game with ten wickets and was named Player of the Match. That enabled him to rise nine spots to rank seventh among bowlers. His 817 rating points are the second-highest by a South African spinner, behind Hugh Tayfield, who had 895 in February 1957.
Harmer rose three spots to fifth place in the all-rounders rankings as a result of his match haul; Wiaan Mulder (ranked third) and Jansen (ranked first) are the other South Africans in the top five. Ravindra Jadeja (second) and Mehidy Hasan (fourth) make up the others in the top five.
Ryan Rickelton moved up 25 spots to 23rd after his 101, while Mulder's 115 in the second inning in Cape Town helped him move up seven spots among batters to a career-best 17th position.
After Pakistan's conclusion of the tri-series, there were also adjustments in the ODI rankings. Ben Duckett achieved a career-best sixth rank after his knock of 167 off 132 balls against Sri Lanka, whereas Pavan Rathnayake, whose recent scores read 77 and 118, made a massive jump of 20 slots to be placed 16th. With his match-winning score of 127 in the final, Fakhar Zaman moved up nine spots to 37th.
Shreyas Iyer, India's captain, moved up two spots to seventh place following his fifty in the fifth game, while Glenn Phillips moved up 13 spots to 24th place after being named Player of the Series for scoring 341 runs in the five games.
