Shahzad Breaks Misbah-ul-Haq’s Record for Fastest First-Class Ton by a Pakistani
Pakistan Television (PTV) batter Muhammad Shahzad made domestic cricket history by smashing the fastest first-class century by a Pakistani player, reaching three figures in just 49 balls during the President’s Trophy Grade-I match against Hyderabad Kingsmen Academy at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad.
Record-Breaking Knock: Coming in at 34/3, Shahzad delivered an all-out assault, scoring 114 runs off 62 balls. His explosive innings included 12 fours and 8 sixes.
Breaking Misbah's Record: Reaching his hundred in 49 deliveries, Shahzad broke the long-standing record held by former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq, who scored a 56-ball century against Australia in 2014.
Global Standing: Shahzad's 49-ball blitz also ranks as the eighth-fastest century in first-class cricket history globally.
Match Position: Shahzad forged a crucial 143-run partnership with Mohammad Taha (43) to help rebuild PTV's innings, pushing them to 285/7 in 58 overs before bad light ended play on Day 1. Shahzad has come through the PCB's age-group programme, playing for Pakistan's Under-16 and Under-19 sides. He played in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa.
