Peter Siddle appointed NSW Blues bowling coach for 2026-27 season


Former Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has been appointed as the bowling coach for New South Wales for the 2026-27 domestic season. Coaching Role: Siddle will work directly with NSW across all of their Sheffield Shield matches, serving alongside assistants Peter Forrest and Daniel Smith in new head coach Brad Haddin's backroom staff.   Active Playing Career: Despite taking on this official coaching position, the 41-year-old active veteran will continue playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) as part of the Melbourne Stars squad.   Spin Consultant: Former South Africa international and former Queensland head coach Johan Botha has also joined the NSW setup as a temporary spin consultant ahead of the upcoming summer.   Squad & Schedule Context Fast-Bowling Group: Siddle will mentor an NSW pace attack featuring Liam Hatcher, Ryan Hadley, Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott, and Ben Dwarshuis (alongside international regulars Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood).   Season Opener: The NSW Blues open their 2026-27 campaign with a One-Day Cup match against Queensland on September 22, followed by their first Sheffield Shield fixture against Tasmania on October 8.
