Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed the appointment of Mark Coles as the new head coach of the Zimbabwean women's national team on Monday, September 7, after a "rigorous recruitment process." The New Zealander is expected to lead the team for the first time in the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, which will be the first international series between the two teams. Coles has also worked with the Scottish men's team and the Pakistani and Scottish women's teams as head coaches. In addition, he has held positions as a coaching consultant in Australia and as the high performance manager at Cricket Papua New Guinea. ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani stated, "Mark Coles brings extensive international coaching and high-performance experience, as well as a strong understanding of the demands of the women's game." “We believe that he will assist us in building a competitive team and establishing a clear path for sustained success, together with the technical and support staff appointed across our senior and Under-19 structures. Trevor Phiri and Rangarirai Manyande will work under Coles as the team's Assistant Coach (Batting) and Fielding Coach, respectively.
