Kranti Gaud fined for ICC Code of Conduct breach during Asia Cup final
India quick Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 per cent of her match fees after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final in Dubai on Sunday (September 13).
Gaud was found to have breached Article 2.5, with a Level 1 offence related to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”
She has also been handed one demerit point, her first offence in a 24-month period.
The incident occurred in the opening over of Sri Lanka’s chase. Facing the first ball, Imesha Dulani collected a boundary with a lap shot off Gaud. After three balls, she tried the same shot again, and a pumped-up Gaud gave Dulani a goodbye by pointing to the pavilion.
She accepted the charges after the sanction was proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, with no formal hearing needed.
