India go with debutant Saransh over Kuldeep, choose to bat in Colombo
India won the toss and elected to bat first in the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo.
Saransh Jain Debuts: Offspinner Saransh Jain earned his debut Test cap for India, coming in for Kuldeep Yadav, who was ruled out due to a viral illness.
Mishara & Sooriyabandara Included: For Sri Lanka, top-order batter Kamil Mishara made his Test debut, while Pasindu Sooriyabandara retained his spot in the side after featuring as a concussion substitute in the first Test at Galle.
Toss & Pitch Conditions: Indian captain Shubman Gill chose to bat on a surface expected to turn early amid hot and humid conditions in Colombo, with Dhananjaya de Silva noting he would have opted to bat as well.
The weather to start things of in Colombo is bright and sunny, though there is some rain expected across this Test. It's hot and humid as well, even more so than in Galle, which means that the surface is expected to be on the drier side. The SSC surface usually starts to take turn pretty soon in any case.
