David Hemp appointed Bangladesh women’s head coach

On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board made the decision to appoint David Hemp as the women's national cricket team's head coach. Hemp will replace Sarwar Imran as head coach, who is expected to end his tenure in October after serving in this position since February 2025. Hemp, 55, will begin his two-year stint with the national women’s team when he joins the squad in Brisbane for the upcoming ODI tour of Australia. He will be in office until September 2028. After serving as the batting coach for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup Qualifier in Pakistan in 2025 and the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier in Nepal earlier this year, the appointment gives Hemp the chance to work with the Bangladesh Women's team once more. Since May 2023, when he took over as the Head Coach of the High Performance (HP) program, Hemp has been a part of the BCB coaching structure. He was also assigned as the National Men's Team's batting coach in 2024. Prior to that appointment, he had been a part of the men's team's coaching staff during the tour of New Zealand in 2023. Hemp has previously worked extensively in women’s cricket. From 2020 to 2022, he was the head coach of the Pakistan Women's National Team, the Victoria State Women's Team, and the Melbourne Stars in the Women's Big Bash League.
