Corporate Overhaul: BCB Unveils All-Format Franchise Structure for Domestic Cricket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially launched D3, a new six-team, franchise-based domestic competition designed to unify red-ball and white-ball cricket under a single commercial framework. Approved at a board meeting on September 20, 2026, the revamp consolidates the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) First-Class, BCL One-Day, and National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tournaments. Unified Structure & Schedule: Six franchises will play a total of 42 matches spanning all three formats—comprising 7 four-day First-Class matches, 16 List A One-Day fixtures, and 19 List A T20s. The T20 phase begins on December 15, 2026, followed by the four-day and one-day legs in January and May 2027, respectively. 3-Year Franchise Ownership: Team ownership rights have been awarded to major corporate entities for a three-season cycle. The participating owners include ACE Blue Star, Acme, Citizens Bank, Seven Rings Cement, Fortune Group, and Walton. Icon Players & Drafts: The tournament's designated icon players are Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Walton), Tawhid Hridoy (Fortune), Mosaddek Hossain (Acme), Mushfiqur Rahim (Seven Rings Cement), Nurul Hasan Sohan (ACE Blue Star), and Mohammad Naim (Citizens Bank). The management draft is set for September 29, followed by the player draft on October 26 (where teams will draft 23-player squads). Match Fee Hike: BCB paired the structural launch with a major increase in domestic player match fees across men's, women's, and age-group cricket. Men's First-Class match fees rise to BDT 1.5 lakh, List A games to BDT 1 lakh, and T20 fixtures to BDT 80,000.
