Bangladesh Awaits India: Tamim Iqbal Says 'Excitement Is At Different Level'
According to reports on Cricinfo and recent statements by BCB president Tamim Iqbal, here are the key details regarding the status of India's white-ball tour of Bangladesh:
Tour Details: The planned bilateral series consists of three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
Current Status & Rescheduling: Originally set for August 2025 and later pushed to September 2026, the series cannot take place in the September window. The BCCI and BCB are actively in discussions to reschedule the tour for early next year, likely around January 2027.
Positive Discussions: Tamim Iqbal confirmed that both boards are in regular, fruitful talks and expressed optimism about locking in a new window soon.
Background Context: Strained relations following the IPL/Mustafizur Rahman controversy earlier in the year caused friction between the boards. Following democratic leadership updates in Bangladesh and recent diplomatic visits by BCB officials to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, talks have resumed on a positive note.
This India tour of Bangladesh tour was originally scheduled for August 2025 before being deferred to September 2026. The BCB had confirmed it earlier this year but there was, however, no official schedule or announcement from either boards regarding the fate of this tour.
