Australia Suffer Dual Injury Blow as Cameron Green and Matt Renshaw Copped Injuries in 3rd ODI

Australia have been dealt fresh fitness blows ahead of their upcoming Test series after all-rounder Cameron Green and batter Matt Renshaw sustained injuries during the final ODI against South Africa in Potchefstroom. Cameron Green's Side Setback: While batting during Australia's innings, Green was struck in the groin by a Corbin Bosch delivery. Though he responded by hitting a six off the following ball, his subsequent dismissal saw him instantly grab at his side/stomach in visible discomfort. He did not take the field for South Africa's run-chase. Matt Renshaw's Wrist Blow: Renshaw suffered a painful blow to his wrist while fielding close-in at square leg. He attempted to block a hard pull shot off Adam Zampa from Ryan Rickelton, immediately left the field for treatment, and played no further part in the match. Growing Test Squad Selection Crisis: The dual injuries add to an expanding medical list for Australia's Test preparation, following wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis, who fractured his finger earlier in the ODI series. Impending Test Series: With Australia scheduled to start their Test series shortly, captain Mitchell Marsh confirmed both players will undergo immediate assessment before the squad begins formal red-ball preparation. Meanwhile, Marsh confirmed he would be returning home at the end of the ODI series after rumours had circulated over recent weeks that he could be added to the Test squad owing to his recent ODI form. Marsh has retired from domestic first-class cricket having not played a Test since December 2024. But Test skipper Pat Cummins told the Nine papers that he would like Marsh to keep his options open regarding Test cricket. "Pat said the door's open, then it's open," Marsh said. "I don't think I would be good enough to retire from Test cricket." Marsh has not played a red-ball game since his last Sheffield Shield game in December last year and has not faced more than 63 deliveries in any of his 47 List A or T20 games since then. He was asked what his red-ball batting would be like if he were ever to return to Test cricket.
